Descriptions
One line
CameraStamp shoots photos and video through modeled film stocks and broadcast tube cameras, rendered in realtime on iPhone, with Audio Unit plugins on the soundtrack.
One paragraph
CameraStamp is a camera app that models film stocks and broadcast tube cameras in realtime. Each film model has its own characteristic curve, grain structure, and color response; the image orthicon models bloom and lag like live television. What you see in the viewfinder is what lands in the library, with no RAW to sift through and no editor to open. An Audio Unit host inside the app lets musicians run a plugin on the soundtrack while they shoot, and every photo and video carries its preset in its metadata, so sending someone the shot sends them the settings. It shoots up to 4K with Apple Log capture and ProRes output on supported devices, and it costs $4.99 once.
Full description
CameraStamp is a camera app for iPhone that models film stocks and broadcast tube cameras in realtime. Each of its seven models has its own adjustable character: five film stocks (orthochromatic and panchromatic black and white, color reversal, color reversal infrared, and color negative), each with its own characteristic curve, grain structure, and color response, and two image orthicon tube models that bloom and lag like live television. Effects run alongside the models on device, from depth of field and diffusion to double exposure, halftone, film grain, and broadcast snow. What you see in the viewfinder is what lands in the library, with no RAW to sift through and no editor to open.
An Audio Unit host inside the app lets musicians run a plugin on the soundtrack while they shoot, with live monitoring and 48 or 96 kHz capture, so audio and video arrive as one synced file. Filmmakers can shoot 4K with Apple Log capture and ProRes output on supported devices. A non-destructive Editor applies any model or effect to existing photos and video, including RAW, ProRAW, and Apple Log footage.
Every photo and video carries its preset in its metadata. Sending someone the shot sends them the settings, and any shot can be reapplied as a preset to live capture or imported into the Editor.
CameraStamp is made by The Musicology Group, Inc., the San Francisco developer behind the Drag, Drop, Rock apps AmpStamp and SynthStamp. In the developer’s words: “We build tube amplifier models for guitar. Applying the same approach to a broadcast camera tube seemed worth trying, and once it worked we couldn’t stop at television. The records we model in AmpStamp and SynthStamp came wrapped in artwork made with this gear. Now you can sound and look like the records you love.”
CameraStamp is $4.99, one purchase, with no subscription and no watermark. It requires iOS 18.1 or later.

About the Developer
CameraStamp is made by James Diomede, founder of The Musicology Group, Inc. in San Francisco. The company has built audio software for more than a decade, from Reason Rack Extensions to the -Stamp family of iOS and Mac apps, including AmpStamp (guitar amplifier and effects modeling) and SynthStamp (vintage synthesizer modeling). CameraStamp applies the same modeling approach to the cameras and film stocks that made the artwork wrapped around those records.
